Long Overdue

Because I haven't posted in a month, I figured I should probably do so sooner than later. So, here is a whole bunch of pictures to sum up my last few weeks bumming around Germany.

Since my last post, the boys started their Spring break so I had all three kids for 2 weeks...it's fun when they're all home!

Bike ride to Hemsbach                                         Found a new ice cream place by the lake

We went to Luisenpark, a big place in Mannheim with just about everything you need to keep 3 kids entertained for days...
On the gondolas going to the other side of the park
In the schmetterling house, one of the few German words I know! Aiden tried for ages to get a butterfly to land on him, but we found this dead one instead
Aquarium
The park was FULL of flowers, Germany in spring is pretty amazing.
Haha, always keeping me entertained

Whitney baking as usual :)
Bonanza park, where they had a cool zip line the boys made me try but it was actually really fun
Coloring Easter eggs!

Another day during school break we went to the Heidelberg Zoo. After making our way in past the mating bears, we found these goats that attacked Connor to get the grass he was holding

Watching the seal show

Classic German lunch, bratwurst and fries

We went geocaching with the scouts and walked along the philosopher's walk in Heidelberg.

These are all out of order but, Easter Sunday started early when Aiden came knocking on my bedroom door saying it was Easter! Haha I told him to wake me up. The kids did an Easter egg hunt and found their baskets, the Easter bunny brought one for me too J. We watched Baby’s Day Out and had breakfast (cinnamon rolls, strawberries and sausage, mmm) before getting ready for church. I went to the Catholic church just down the street, only my second time going, but I really like it there. It’s really small, not a lot of people come and it’s all in German, but it’s nice. I got there early in case it was crowded on Easter, definitely not the case!

We played at the park and came home to an Easter feast Amy had prepared.
Check out the spread!

Amy, the kids and I went to Ramstein, Germany for the night and stayed on the HUGE air force base there. We roamed around the mall, went bowling, rock climbing and saw a movie (Rio, so good!). I even had time to hit up the spa for a pedicure...life is good!  We ended the trip with dinner at Chili's on base, so much like home you actually feel like you're back in the States!

Another American au pair in Germany came in town for the weekend, so we walked around Heidelberg and met up with Amy and Whitney for dinner. Later that night we went out for a drink at the restaurant down the street in Huttenfeld and ran into some people who invited us over and met tons of people living here, quite a surprise!
Sunday morning we went into Worms to explore the city, which ended up not being much, but they claim to be the oldest city in Germany (Trier is the oldest documented city).
It was SO hot so this is our lame attempt at a barbie pool party!

I had the kids for the weekend so we tried to plan lots of things to keep us busy. Friday we went to the lake & stopped at Edeka, the German grocery store on the way home for some ice cream for our brownie sundaes. It was my first German grocery experience. We ordered pizzas from Adria and watched a movie before heading to bed. Saturday we went to the mall where we found lots of fun stuff to do and stopped at Bauhaus (like a home depot) for some gardening materials. The kids picked everything out and we already have lots of buds! Sunday we spent the day at Kids World.

It was Whitney's birthday on the 18th, celebrated it the next day and went to Tripsdrill(amusement park) on Saturday.

Birthday lunch in the "party pool"

Time to get back into packing mode as our next trip is just around the corner. Friday morning we leave for a long drive to Venice for a week-long cruise through Italy, Greece, Turkey & Croatia. A new post is promised upon my return--no more month delays!
